Ricky's Fish Tacos: It's better to do one thing right...

Needing a small, cheap, quick lunch after the Silver Lake Farmer's Market Saturday, I stopped by Ricardo's Fish Tacos stand on Sunset. Ricky sets up his poquito stand outside Le Bar (Lebarcitos) at 3922 Sunset and he sells just one thing: Fish tacos. At $2.50 each, they're a touch more than Best Fish Taco in Ensenada, but I like the batter Ricky uses much more and they're super-fresh out of the fryer. Since it's a real restaurant, Best Fish Taco has room for better condiments. But for taste alone, Ricky's is definitely better than El Siete Mares. "Everybody takes pictures!" Ricky exclaimed as I pulled out my camera. Yes, there are no secrets in the midst of the Sunset Junction action -- just some really fresh, hot and delicious fish tacos.

When I went on Saturday (around 2pm) he was in front of the laundromat at 3903 W Sunset Blvd. Does he move around?

BTW, his tacos are great, better than BFTE and TBE. If only fish tacos and coffee were a better pairing.

I like the FTD apron! For some reason, the fact he doesn't care that it's an FTD apron and not an "official chef apron", makes me like the guy a lot.

Best Fish Taco uses Worst Grocery Store tortillas. And we all know that a taco is only as good as its tortilla. If this joint uses hand made tortillas, then we may finally have the taco of our Baja sueƱos.

Diana, Ricky's real job is at a flower shop. He bolts straight from work to open the stand. Besides an apron is an apron. And Geoff, yeah he floats around but always in the Junction area. Just got back from a trip there for 2 shrimp and two fish and I couldn't be happier than I am right now...
