Pickle me this...
On Saturday, Sept. 20 from 1-4 p.m. Machine Project hosts a pickle-making event in Echo Park, hosted by Erik Knutzen and Kelly Coyne from homegrownevolution.com and Mark Frauenfelder from dinosaursandrobots.com (and BoingBoing!). Bring jars and fruits or vegetables to pickle, as well as extra produce from your garden (does parsley count?)

A savory way to combat domestic violence
Savor the Season comes to the Vibiana Downtown for a benefit from 6-9 p.m. featuring some great L.A. tastes. Chef Andre Guerrero, left, of The Oinkster and Max is the honorary host chef, so between Andre and providers including Saltistry, Beverly Hills Caviar, The Edison, Tasca wine bar, Tanzore and more, there should be plenty of food and drink to sample.
Break the Cycle works to fight domestic and dating violence among youth.
