Garage Pizza is open next to Saito Sushi in what is fondly dubbed "crackhead mini-mall" at Fountain and Sunset. The newest wave of pizza places is decidedly more attitudinal than the old-school spots...Garage's menu (pictured here) offers The Tree-Hugger (vegan, of course), the Cholo (ground beef and jalapenos) and the Whiteboy (a white pizza).
And Lucifer's, coming to Hillhurst, says it will offer "Damned Good Pizza!" Organic, too, of course.
Corx wine bar and shop at 2114 Hillhurst is still petitioning for its wine and beer license...
Barbrix on Hyperion is slowly working on construction and permits...
Reservoir on Silver Lake Blvd. seems to finally be looking more complete...
Michelangelo has shut down on Silver Lake Blvd. but the new Rowena location isn't quite ready yet...
and Herby asks "I noticed that the new Home Restaurant on Riverside Dr. has opened, but I can't find anything on it online (no menu) and no mention of the opening or early reviews. what do you know about this new satellite?"
Sorry Herby, but I have not heard too much about the food or anything else at Home's new location...has anyone been yet?

I tried to go to home on Sunday and there was a half hour wait at the new location. Looks nice though/
Went to Home on Saturday. Great atmosphere, fine renovations, the old Rudolfo's bar is still in play, but the food was just... so-so.
Still, a great outdoor patio: the perfect place for beer and a simple sandwich.
Went for brunch Saturday as well. It looks to be the exact same menu as the Hillhurst location -- edible though solidly mediocre -- but service was pretty bad. We got seated right away, as there wasn't a line when we arrived (around 10 a.m.), but then our drinks went to someone else's table and it just went downhill from there. We saw I think 3 other tables of people sit, order, eat, and leave before our food arrived an hour or so later, without any kind of attention or updates from our server. I guess we just got the wrong one.
we went to the new home/rudolphos on saturday, too. the food is exactly the same as hillhurst and the service was horrid. i don't think they knew what kind of pent-up excitement the neighborhood had for it. we sat there and watched people line up and line and line up. i think after a couple weeks, they should be able to shake away the opening issues.
other minor notes:
the bar is fabulous and open til 12 weeknights and 2a on weekends.
they need more shade in the patio.
they need to double their staff.
why is valet free on hillhurst and $2.50 here?
Great patio, blah food. And paying $2.50 for valet...? I parked on Riverside on principle.
They are still working out the kinks, server-wise, that's for sure. I am going to wait a few weeks before I try again.
We went to Home, but during the week. The service was fine, as it wasn't very busy, and I liked my breakfast burrito - cooked perfectly.
Umm, anyone know what's happening with the old Netty's place? I thought it was going to be opened by someone named Gloria, and then it seems to have passed hands and now it's lingers in ongoing construction hell.
Esther
I've *been* there but had to leave because it was too hot. You'd think with a renovating a new space they'd include air conditioning. They didn't forget to pay attention to every other detail though. The new space looks great! Will try their food soon and comment again.
