Barely 10 days in, and already they're complaining about Whole Foods. Here's a few snapshots from the suggestion board, and clearly, there's no pleasing these people. "I came here for the singles event but couldn't find it (no signs). Great store, though." -- And you couldn't ask someone? Guess that would be too embarrassing. So did anyone less directionally-impaired get to the singles night? (Hint: I think they have it in the wine bar upstairs.)
"Amazing variety, but I couldn't find my favorite -- potato knishes!" -- 73 kinds of organic truffles, a roasted nut bar, but she won't be happy unless she can get a knish. Oy, I hope they've got the free-range schmaltz.
And my favorite: "There is something very peculiar and energetically off-putting -- there is a disconnect and it doesn't feel great to be here. Maybe you can do something about this!" -- What would you suggest? A Chakra re-alignment? A visit from a feng shui expert? Maybe the karmic pain you feel is really the sting of all your money being sucked out of your wallet.

My, we're gettin' cynical! You're not from Southern California originally, are you, Pats?
Next thing you know, you'll be suggesting that maybe homeopathy and the Bach Flower Remedies aren't really supported by any real science, or pointing out that the "Zen Macrobiotic Diet" and "Dr. Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System" can't BOTH be right. . . .
Oooooo...them's fightin' words! I happen to know that Pat is a California native!!!!
I think your comments are hilarious, Pat! Keep up the good work and excellent journalism!
Seriously, I've stopped and read the comments at this Whole Foods. Could people be any more whiny? I think the variety is quite good, and yet they still complain.
I complained, but not at the note board.
Fresh tortillas means made as I watch, not 4 days old.
And no bulk French green lentils? Only the boxed? Wild Oats had bulk at $1.99 a pound.
The Wild Oats brand canned smoked tuna fillets in oil--bring them back right now.
And we definitely need a WF further east, even with all the caveats.
To silverlakebodhisattva:
wtf are you talking about? this post is about whole foods, not alternative Zen treatments. chill out and let Pat make fun of uptight people like you.
Uh, I think silverlakebodhisattva was taking the piss....
I found the tuna, which made me very happy, and they swear the tortillas will be either fresh or dropped. Hmm.
totally hear ya on the lentils. i had the same problem today. i'm in deep mourning for wild oats.
I don't like shopping, don't like grocery shopping with with my husband (he had to read every freakin' label) and I don't like Whole Foods.
He's been and he keeps wanting to take me. That doesn't sound like fun, so I say things like, "But I'm ovulating." or "I need to clean the bird poo of the tree."
And yet...those messages have me totally curious. I must go. I will go.
I miss the smoked tuna that Wild Oats carried.....
