More Eastside news

I try to stay away from the flood of Pinkberry news, because everyone else seems to talk about it endlessly and for some reason I can't get at all interested in frozen yogurt. But for those who love their yogurt, Pinkberry is coming soon to Vermont Ave. near Vermont restaurant, which is nearly as hard to park in as West Hollywood, but not quite.

Early reports of eating at Canelé are filtering in...read reviews here and here.

In addition to vegetarian Mexican food (soy ceviche, what will they think of next?), Highland Park is getting a new coffee house cleverly dubbed Highland Perk on York...too bad about the demise of Mudpuppy though, it always looked so cute.

Silver Lake Wine has applied for a full liquor-selling license which should come through in around six weeks. But it's a sales-only license, so there won't be crowds of people swilling artisanal absinthe and such at the Thursday night tastings.

Prasadam, the healthy cafe on Sunset in Silver Lake has closed, with some sort of vegan cafe taking its place...anyone have more info?

The old Cinnabar space on Glendale is apparently available once again, after Rocca and Acacia failed to materialize. C'mon, folks, let's put that bar to use!

Do you know when Highland Perk is set to open? It's been the same forever...looks ready, but never opens!

The bar is in hiding and will resurface one of these days, yet it is no longer on the premises in Glendale.

I think the whole Pinkberry hype is part scam..the storefront on Larchmont hasn't changed in 5 months. The recent LA Times article said their second location was opening on 6th street in Korea town that week..the article was from 7 weeks ago and now there's a 'for lease' sign over the Pinkberry logo..weird. Obviously, I'm not working now since I can spend so much time being obsessed by creamy yogurt.

oh, pat, thank you for making me feel like i am not the only one. i cannot get excited about frozen yogurt at all, and the hype surrounding pinkberry makes it even less appealing. i am sure that at some point i will make my way there, but only when it's convenient and it happens to be on my way somewhere.

I am with you on the Pinkberry hype....in NY Pinkberry is being predicted as the end of Tasti D Lite -- as if that was anything worth noting. And the prospect of more people looking for nonexistent parking spaces in Los Feliz village....aargh! (When I deign to visit PB, if it opens, I can walk!)

It's not like frozen yogurt is a recent revolution. Are we going to see a resurgence in TCBY? And haven't they been putting toppings (including berries) on their yogurt for, I dunno, 20 years?

Meanwhile, anyone have any idea what's happening with "Franklin Hills Cafe", now "opening soon" for more than a year?
