Flor Morena covers up, what's up?

Now that brown paper has gone up covering Flor Morena's windows (as well as a boarded up window that was apparently vandalized last weekend), we thought it was time to recap all the rumors that have swirled around the place. The owners have apparently wrested control of teh property free of Flor Morena's proprietor, who certainly irked a lot of people by leaving the property vacant for so long. Feel free to weigh on on your favorite, or what you would like to see there.
Rumor #1) Larry Nicola from Nic's could be taking the space for his return to Silver Lake.
Rumor #2) Marshall Blair from Blair's is interested, even though he has a perfectly good restaurant across the street already.
Rumor #3) Peet's Coffee. They passed.
Rumor #4) Rudy Martinez of Mia Sushi tried to make a deal, but it didn't work out.
Rumor #5) The owners of Cafe Stella have already signed on the place. I haven't had time to check this one out, but it makes sense, as not much seems to be happening with the Artisan space they announced for Echo Park.

I was trying to interest Vosges in opening their first LA chocolate lounge there.

This space will need to generate some serious food karma to compensate for the removal of the bikini-clad go-go dancers in the window, revealed when the cladding came off during the building's transformation into Flor Morena. It's heartbreaking that a piece of folk art was lost for... a big nothing.

It would be nice to see one of the Nicola brothers return to Silver Lake. I remember going into their father's sandwich shop for lunch breaks from school. Although, the Vosges chocolate is damn good!

I would love Larry Nicola to open a restaurant like LA Nicola. I loved that place. It sure was a lot lovelier than Malo is now.

I always suspected the place closed up partially because of that horribly agressive woman who worked the front counter..she was loud, rude and very off-putting to customers...when we ate there, afterwards all we remembered about our breakfast was her! And it wasn't a pleasant memory...

I'm in total agreement with the last posting. I honestly didn't want to eat there due to the poor service and annoying girl at the counter. I was once placing an order with her and she proceeded to have a secondary conversation with the couple behind me. No wonder they closed down.

for old times' sake, here's a link to the afore-mentioned folk art -- a print of which hangs in my kitchen -- on flickr

Someone mentioned L.A. Nicola. There is a facebook group devoted to fans of L.A. Nicola:
