Rudolpho's closing and other tidbits

Matt tries Scoops' American Zombie flavor (Red Bull, red wine, anise sorbet) on top of another zombie creation, avocado foie gras (and brains?)

Now, the news...Rudolpho's on Riverside Drive has been bought by Home. No word yet on whether Home will keep their Hillhurst location as well. Rudy and Nina del Campo will hold on to Casita del Campo on Hyperion.

Canele has started serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Dishes include omelettes, quiches, eggs en cocotte, shirred eggs with chorizo, French toast and apple cobbler.

Another new pizza place is coming, this time to Los Feliz. Cruzer has already opened a location in Glendale and is taking over the old Cap'n Cork location at Hillhurst and Prospect. This location was first going to be the Desert Rose, then Yxta, but it's not easy to get permits for drinking, patios, entertainment, etc. on that street, so perhaps something a bit less ambitious like pizza was the only thing that would work. As long as they get rid of all that graffiti soon...

Rudolpho's has served a great brunch for the last year or so on weekends and after Dragstrip left a couple years ago, they gussied up the joint and it's really kinda of gorgeous on the inside and out. I hope they keep some of the staff...nice kids. Though, I do love Home.

Hmm. Home could be kind of cool there, with the parking and all. My guy and I tried Rudolpho's for the first time on St. Paddy's day, and they had 3 specials - all meat items. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only vegetarian in this part of town. We thought it was a cool lay out inside, though. I hope they keep the bar - looks good for a game. . .

just an fyi, desert rose appears to be full steam ahead -- the name is now affixed to the building, which has been painted. looks like the cruzer's sign is still on the prospect side of the building though, maybe the property's been subdivided?
