Battle of the Steaks and STKs

Do Angelenos have an iron shortage or something? Two New York transplant steakeries open this month in West Hollywood, one after another. BLT Steak, from chef Laurent Tourondel, is having an opening party in the former Le Dome space on the Sunset Strip next Tuesday, while STK (how do you pronounce that, exactly?) is already open, with an opening party March 19 in the former Alto Palato and Bridge space on La Cienega.

STK (pictured): More loungey: a herd of steer horns on the wall; foie gras French toast (ok, I'll bite); New York steak, $38

BLT Steak: More serious meat: hen of the woods mushroom sides; New York steak, $42, Kobe ribeye, $92 (on the New York menu, anyway.)
