Although this only dates back to 1979, I don't think there's much info out there about the Dog House, which was probably a divey little bar with a great front. As a kid, I used to eat at the Hot Dog Show in Santa Monica, which I think had a model train running around the walls.

wow. the dog house looks amazing. i wish it were still there!
The Hot Dog Show was in Pacific Palisades. Yes, it did have a train running around its tracks.
There was also a Hot Dog Show on that island where San Vicente meets Burton Way and La Cienega. Later it was called The Gingham Dog. Even later, it was a Fat Burger. Now, I think it's a car repair place.
Oh, right, the Hot Dog Show in Pacific Palisades had the train. But I'm pretty sure there was also one on Wilshire and 3rd in the same minimall as the Mucky Duck. Wow, Ellen, how did I miss the Gingham Dog?
Pat! You missed the Gingham Dog 'cause you're waaaay younger than me!
Yes, you are right Pat! There was a shopping center at the Northwest corner of 3rd and Wilshire in Santa Monica and The Dog House was in a small shack-type building on the very corner. The Mucky Duck had the best Fish and Chips and originally opened in the L-shaped building behind the Dog House. The Mucky Duck moved to Ocean Ave near Pico Bl. when the center was torn down and the Dog House sadly closed down.
The HOT DOG Show was my fave DOG place in the Mid-Late 70's West of Doheny. You could eat standing up, cause it had little shelves on the wall to put Ur dog & drink...It was on the No Side of Little Santa Monica west of Canon...And in H'wood I ate at BIG WEENIE just No of H'wood Blvd near the Theatre.. And of course, RIP Tale of the PUP.....PINKS was only last-ditch for me...
