Last year I happened upon the Sri Lanka Day festival on the Santa Monica Promenade and was surprised at how big it was. It runs from 10 am to 10 pm Saturday Aug. 23 and there's dancers, various booths and tons of Sri Lankan specialties like rotis, short eats and stringers all along the Promenade. There are hardly any Sri Lankan restaurants in L.A., so here's your yearly chance for Sri Lankan food, which is kind of like Indian, but more oriented towards street food/snacky stuff, I'd say.There's also Miss Sri Lanka America and Miss Teen Sri Lanka pageant, and a parade with dancers, drummers and more at 4 pm.

Ohh! I never knew this existed! So this is at the 3rd Street Promenade?
I'll definitely check it out tomorrow! Time to get to know Sri Lankan food ;)
