Calbi BBQ: A little too close to Kogi?

Here's a photo of the Kogi BBQ truck.

And here's one of the new Calbi BBQ truck. Not like there's any resemblance or anything. Just sayin'.

imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but... it also might be legally actionable. bad form. and cynical... a shame, really.

Oh come on, this is incredibly stupid of Calbi. I'm all for more food trucks. Heck, I think there should be several every corner. But this is really ridiculous. I'd never eat at this truck, just for the reason that they're ripping off Kogi, which has worked hard (and succeeded) at building its huge following. Calbi deserves its own page on the FAIL Blog for this one.

That isn't going to go over well around here. I don't think it actually will hurt Kogi business, other than being annoying and obvious to everyone. What jerks!

Well...as much as I hate Kogi, not only for the lack luster over hyped food but the LONGGGGG lines I might actually go to this one if I saw it and didn't have to wait. Who knows maybe Calbi actually knows how to make meat taste like meat and not ruin it with some sauce the way Kogi does.

ah... looks like the hardly concealed "viral marketing" campaign for the kogi rip-off is in high gear, right "life on two wheels"? was that "advertising" i saw listed as your career/industry in your "blogger" profile? if you are going to shill for a new "client", you could at least be a little less transparent and obvious....

That's terrible. They should sue.

I bet it doesn't even taste that great. if you've tried Kogi, you know that their taste is super original and yum.

The back story on this is incredible. These people aren't just ripping them off, they actually asked for their help in the beginning. Tsk tsk tsk.

competition is healthy. i just ate there and i thought it was mediocre at best. where's the cilantro? anyway. legally actionable, my brown eye. there's no patent on ideas like this and it's good to see a good fire lit under someone's ass. don't hate for the sake of hatin', children
