There's still another round of voting before the
James Beard awards are handed out, but several local chefs are in the running for now.
Animal,
Palate and the
Bazaar are all nommed for best new restaurant. Travis Lett from
Gjelina and Evan Funke from
Rustic Canyon are semi-finalists for best new chef. Suzanne Goin of
Lucques is the only L.A. outstanding chef nominee, though, and no L.A. restaurants for outstanding restaurant.
Do you agree with the best service nomination for
Campanile?
Were we robbed? Does L.A. have a restaurant that should be in competition with the likes of N.Y.'s
Babbo and
Jean Georges or S.F.'s
Boulevard?

I think both Animal and The Bazaar deserve their noms, and I am still dying to try Palate!
Puzzled by this embrace everything bacon trend...is the world is ending mantra translating to permission to throw out our low cal, low cholesterol, mostly vegetarian heart healthy diets?
How about Zoe Nathan being nominated for best pastry chef? That's pretty great and I can't wait for her new bakery opening next week. It's called Huckleberry. We are so lucky to live in L.A.!
