Just in case you need more cupcakes...Lark Cakeshop

I've parsed the cupcake fascination inside and out for several years now, but I'm still kind of amazed that cake and cupcake shops continue to open at a feverish pace. Now we have our very own in Silver Lake, the stylish pale green Lark Cake Shop on Sunset at Micheltorena. I liked that the red velvet cupcake, left, was a very reasonable size yet with a healthy dollop of frosting nonetheless, perfect for frosting freaks. The cake part could use a little fine-tuning -- I'm used to Auntie Em's, which super moist. In case you've had enough cake, which I think maybe I have at this point, there's scones, cookies, tiramisu and coffee. Lark plans to stay open until 10 on weekends, just the place for a cupcake fix after dinner. Now if only someone could open a good bread bakery...

Just did a drive by and they were closed...a woman inside told me they ran out of food yesterday and would be closed for the next couple of days..and probably won't be open on Sundays in the future...

Stopped by yesterday and got an oatmeal-cranberry cookie, a peanut butter cookie, and a carrot-cake cupcake. The p.b. cookie and carrot cupcake were okay, but the oatmeal-cranberry cookie was moist and delicious! The cranberries were plump and raisin-like. The space is bright and well-appointed and I love that you can see into the kitchen. I didn't see red velvet cupcakes there, though, and would certainly have tried one!

I went on Saturday and got a few cupcakes and this delicious little wafer cake. The carrot cake cupcake was really good, and the red velvet was ok, not as moist as Auntie Em's. But the little wafer cake? Hello delicious! So insanely good. I'll be a little bummed if they aren't open on Sundays. That's the best day for an afternoon sweet.

Why do I get the feeling they were temporarily closed by the health department? Infestation perhaps? I've noticed a lot of restaurants have been closing "for maintenence" lately.

...can we say Figaro Cafe in Los Feliz anyone?

I stopped by and they are open on Sundays, closed on Monday only.

You should try the lemon curd cake it is as delicious as the carrot cake and the wafer cake..

That is so rude how can you assume a newly opened bakery that passed insprection to open is closed for infestion? You must have a bad outlook on life as well.

Anyone else find the similar names ("Lark" and Stark") and physical juxtaposition in the block, of a cake shop and a waxing salon just a LITTLE odd?

YES, I live nearby and am always a little weirded out by the Lark/Stark duo. It's like, how much more directed at yupster chicks can we get? Waxing, sugar, and CUTE RHYMES!
Too bad I like both places and have to brave them despite being creeped out.
