The Cynthia's fracas has been covered everywhere, but if you want to see what all the fuss is about, the L.A. Weekly tried to get to the bottom of the inflammatory email going around town. In a nutshell, there's probably better places to take your business than Cynthia's on Third St.
J. Gold does a nice round-up of Thai food, but I'm still on the lookout for a really reliable place in Thai Town with a more ambitious menu than Sapp, for example.

And of course, the item that has L.A.'s gastronomes even more excited than Cynthia's rudeness, the news that Nancy Silverton will partner with Mario Batali in an L.A. Italian restaurant featuring his father's famous salumi. Read about it in David Shaw's interview.

i've noticed that chowhound has been steadfastly deleting any post regarding the Cynthia's incident. what's going on??
I think Chowhound prefers to focus on the food, rather than the ownership. They don't really like extremely negative posts because it's hard to verify how true they are or who was right. They need to be pretty restrictive so people don't think they can just air all their grievances there.
Even more reason for the LATimes to get a gossip column. Chowhound also didn't want to deal with Mark Peel soloing at Camanile and spreading his own brand of cheer around the place. Face it, Nancy was the only pleasant face ever sen in there.
re New Concept, if you are putting together a sampling posse, I'm game (if you include folks you dont' know that is).
Is there a dim sum posse that I could join in on? In San Francisco we had a monthly Chinese Dumpling Gang meeting...
