Grub Street Expands to L.A.

Why? Because foodblogging is an incredibly lucrative road to quick riches, of course. New York magazine's Grub Street, which seems like a pretty good blog, although I don't get to New York much, has expanded to L.A. through a partnership with Menupages. The new GrubStreet Los Angeles is written by LATaco blogger and actor Hadley Tomicki and at first glance, seems a tad more westside, a touch more upscale than other local blogs, but it's early days yet. Everybody into the pool!

dtownLA.com Launch Party featuring the Taste of dtownLA

Eat, drink, dance, play, and celebrate Downtown LA’s finest cuisine

The Taste of Dtown is a culinary festival with the finest restaurants
in Downtown LA. On July 31st, 2009, guests are invited to have a
fancy feast and celebrate the launch of dtownLA.com with renowned
downtown restaurants Magnolia, Provecho, Remedy, Maria’s Italian
Kitchen, Urth Caffe, The Daily Grill, Takami, Rock’n fish, Gram and
    Papas, and Wokcano.

Held in the historic Brunswick studio, a 7,000 sq foot loft complex,
guests will be treated to a buffet of world class cuisine–contemporary
American, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese. The food tasting
will be held from 6-9 pm and followed by an afterparty from 10:30pm to
    2 am.

The event is sponsored by the 7 times distilled Rain Organics Vodka.
The vodka is created exclusively from 100 percent organic white corn,
creating a superior taste profile. It undergoes an extensive 20
day-production technique that includes cold-water sweet mash
fermentation and a polishing stage that adds pure limestone.

Beer drinkers will sip on the fine Italian Peroni Nastro Azzurro.
Introduced in the 60s, Peroni is the leading premium beers in Italy.
The light European lager is produced using only the highest quality
natural ingredients. Known for its clear-cut, clean taste and
clarity, its exclusive brewing process ensures fresh and natural
    quality.

A silent auction benefiting the Midnight Mission will be held during
the initial food tasting session. Guests have the opportunity to bid
on vacation packages, dinners with celebrities, hotel stays and a
variety of products and services from downtown local businesses.
