Pig parts, via silive.comOne of the chefs on the Baja trip and I were discussing food-oriented tattoos, and he talked lovingly of a favorite boning knife he's thinking of memorializing on an arm. I like the idea of getting a food tattoo -- even though I'm not a chef, I'm pretty sure I won't ever get tired of eating.
But unlike the pig parts tramp stamp girl pictured above, I'm just not sure what would be the best subject. I love tamarind, for instance, but a tamarind pod would just look like an ugly blob, I'm afraid. I'll have to ask Octavio Becerra who did his nicely-detailed butcher knife. Guess it's time to peruse Flickr's Food Tattoos pool.Have you seen any great food tattoos? ReplyDeletenot necessarily a tattoo you'd get...but i remembered the three owners of the unexpected restaurant--feast--in houston, tx, got three little piggy tattoos! they're pictured in the ny times article below. if you're ever in houston, feast is worth checking out!

ReplyDeleteTom at Silver Lake Tattoo recently did my bee tattoo...which I realize is only sort of food-related.
ReplyDeleteI think he is really skilled, and his shop has no attitude or pretensions to hipsterdom. You might want to talk to him before getting your tattoo. He isn't a charmer, but he is really talented.

A lot of my friends have food tattoos. Some are sushi rolls, a steak, a bbq grill, ice cream cone, fruits, the Simpson doughnut head...
