|Thanksgivukkah dog at DogHaus|
"I'm not sure if you're working on any Thanksgivukkah round-ups..." read the publicist's email. Well, I'm not, but I think that officially confirms that the fact that Hanukkah falls near Thanksgiving this year is enough to create a new holiday mashup. Hey, I've been known to send Chrismukkah cards, so who am I to complain?
In honor of the faux-holiday (fauliday?), DogHaus Dogs has created the Thanksgivukkah Dog. How do you put Thanksgiving in a hotdog and then add Hanukah? It's made with Thanksgiving Sausage (stuffed with turkey, whiskey-soaked cranberries, brown-sugared sweet potatoes, thyme, sage and rosemary) and topped with latke-simulating Tater Tots and apple cranberry Sauce, served on a King’s Hawaiian bun.
A little over-the-top, sure, but far more delicious than the average hot dog. It's available Nov. 22-Dec. 1, along with the Punkin' Brewster cocktail, which involves pumpkin butter, housemade grenadine and Buffalo Trace bourbon.
With two locations in Pasadena (the Old Town one includes craft beer and a large patio) and one in Alhambra, DogHaus is hoping to follow Umami Burger into gourmet fast-food domination with a few dozen more outlets. They've brought in former Churchill chef and pickle maker extraordinaire Bruce Kalman to give the menu a once-over and add his Prime Pickles, of course.
