The Allston Yacht Club folks are partnering with chef Miles Thompson from the Vagrancy Project, which did a pop-up there before it closed, for a revamped restaurant in the Echo Park Ave. space. Allumette (French for matchstick) is the name of the new spot, which will open in early 2013.
While AYC was more of a burgers and happy hour prices kind of place, Allumette sounds like it will be more heavily cuisine-focused, with dishes like monkfish with sour cherry, chorizo and mustard or rabbit with hazelnut tortellini, rosemary and lemon. The oddly-named Allston was a handy place to meet friends with its reasonable prices and ok food. This place sounds like it won't be quite as casual, but then that's the new Echo Park, right?
"Pure Vegan" signing and tasting at Mohawk Bend MondaySpeaking of the new Echo Park, author/farmer's market impresario/Institute of Domestic Technology founder/designer Joseph Shuldiner are hosting a special Meatless Monday Dec. 17 at Mohawk Bend with recipes from Shuldiner’s "Pure Vegan" cookbook.
