Food + art = beautiful and delicious at the Getty Villa and Langham

Two upcoming events take advantage of lovely settings for European art and culture-inspired meals.

At the Royce at the Langham in Pasadena, a lunch this Saturday (March 24) is inspired by the art of Monet. Artist Nori Green will talk about Monet's life at Giverny and his famous lunches with artists, while chef David Féau will serve spring dishes inspired by the artist. On the menu: Legumes, Flowers and Green Leaves in harmony (at right); Dover Sole Fillet Normande with Chanterelle Spring Onion; Roasted Chicken with Crayfish Sauce and Watercress Salad and Apple Tart Tatin. Price is $65; go to the Royce's website for reservations.

At the Getty Villa in Malibu, author Frances Mayes signs her new Tuscan Sun Cookbook on Wednesday, April 4, and hosts a formal, three-course prix fixe lunch in the Founder's Room of the Getty Villa, featuring recipes from the book, for $75 or $90 with wine pairings. You can also have lunch at the cafe, where they'll be featuring recipes from the book, or just catch Mayes at the book signing at 10:30 a.m. and lecture about her life in Tuscany from 12-1. Go to the Getty's website to reserve for the lunch or to reserve parking for the lecture and signing.
