Mix 'n Munch Grilled cheese and cereal coming to South Pas.

I've heard of cereal cafes and I've heard of grilled cheese restaurants, but putting the two together is a first, I think. Mix 'n Munch Cereal and Grilled Cheese plans to open this summer in the former Puff cosmetics space on Mission Ave. in South Pasadena. It's just a few doors down from the recently-opened Great Harvest Bread Co. and catty-corner from soon-to-open Radhika's Indian Bistro. It's good to see this quaint stretch of town getting some new restaurant activity, even if some of the choices seem a bit quirky.

I drove by Mix 'n Munch yesterday, and couldn't help but thinking how oddball that combination seems. Why drag down grilled cheese with cereal? I'm pretty sure the only cereal concept that has seen any success is based around college campuses. It's hard to imagine South Pasadena families heading there in force for cereal. They'll probably be more interested in grilled cheese.

We drove by Puff today and are excited to see what Mix n Munch is! Are there any other MNM restaurants in CA? Can't wait to see what cereal and grilled cheese together is like.

this sounds like another short-lived trendy idea.

Cereal and grilled cheese? I just love South Pasadena, the new Great Harvest Bread Co and all the quaint places that fit perfectly here. But seriously, a cereal and grilled cheese place? Sounds trendy and short lived, and I am not the least bit interested in such a place.

This combination sounds ridiculous. I doubt this place will last long - as an SP resident, I wish more cafes offering healthy options would open up or better dining options - not some random, trendy cereal and grilled cheese place.

Grilled cheese & cereal?? I'm thinking this is the kind of place my toddler would love. Me? Not so much.

I'm also afraid to see what the markup is going to be on that cereal. :P

Before making any judgements, try it out first. You'll probably end up eating there because everyone else is.

Wow...odd concept. How about grilled cheese and wine? I'd already be there:)

The mix 'n' munch concept is DOA.
Ain't gonna happen in the 'dena south.
I mean, why would anyone realistically want to go there, with cereal being its basis?

Wow a whole lot of hateraide be sipped here. People should have more of an open mind and dont knock it until you tried it..... It takes big coconuts to take the risk....

Well, if the grilled cheese sandwiches think "outside the box" (have you tried that grilled cheese truck? like brie and pear...then there may be some hope here! I support creativity...I hope we have something fun and unique here!! I'd rather have that than another "middle of the road" cafe! GOOD LUCK!!!

I agree with the others that there needs to be a new and different spin on cereal and grilled cheese for this place to work... gourmet, organic, etc. And I think grilled cheese and wine would be phenomenal!

$5 for a bowl of mixed cereal, or buy 2-3 boxes from CostCo for $5.

South Pas kids must have a ton of disposable income that kids in other areas don't. They've put this restaurant in the right place.

Good luck!

Certain Menu items and beverages are not even available and it's a little too much $$$ for cereal & grilled cheese if you ask me. I also agree with everyone else on here......this place will be very short lived.
