Entertainment biz insists on investing in restaurants

Here's my Variety article today on why the latest crop of celebrities and behind-the-scenes entertainment business people still want into the restaurant biz, despite masses of failures. At least some of them, like Vertical Wine Bistro's Gale Ann Hurd, try to keep a close eye on the business because I think being a passive investor can be a risky move. And here's an interview I did with Rick Caruso -- there's something refreshingly transparent about his unbounded capitalism. Maybe Caruso should spend as much time on the Internet as The Waffle's Gavin Polone does, and check out this withering report from Los Angeles magazine on Frida Mexican Cuisine at the Americana.
